House No. 4 Front View

Project Overview

The prime focus was to provide a family space utilising the entire width (4.87m) of the site, excluding the side setback, and connect other spaces at that intersection. This was the challenge we had to face, a linear site with three sides occupied in a cramped neighborhood, the west (front), the only side with access to the street, with trees alongside the east (rear end) of the site.

Client Requirements

  • Vastly spacious master bedroom
  • Open kitchen and family room/area/zone
  • Extra space for additional car park for a vintage car
  • Private office on the east end, behind the car park
  • Safe and private space with an aura of positivity

Design Solutions

Optimal Daylight Utilization

Daylight was used to make the home feel more aesthetically vibrant and spacious. A Central Triple Plan divides the house in 2 in the plan and divided into 3 in the Section View.

Central Triple Height Core

This forms the core of the structure, which guides the sunlight in through the shaded glazed window panes on the top level. It behaves as the transition space for all areas of the house.

Strategic Glass Placement

Slit fixed glass is utilized in the living room and master bedroom for diffused illumination during the daytime, avoiding glare or disorder.

Visual Appeal

In the master-bedroom, an L-shaped Fixed glass, when blinded, renders an ambient feel, providing an interesting glazed facade when seen from the outside.

About This Project

The Formal Living Space is narrow and well-lit by high windows and a huge fixed glass covering the louvered facade. Daylight is optimally used in the visualization and design of all spaces, avoiding glare or disorder.

The Central Triple Height core behaves as the transition space for all areas of the house, guiding the sunlight in from the open terrace, making the small area appear spacious and vibrant.

This project exemplifies our approach to solving complex urban design challenges while creating beautiful, functional living spaces that maximize natural light and spatial perception.

Corner House Exterior

Project Overview

For this project in Bangalore, we had a corner site in a quiet and fast developing residential neighbourhood. Client's requirement was a vasthu four bedroom house on three levels.

The design started to evolve based on providing maximum daylight and landscape views. The car porch leads you to the front double height semi open foyer, east and north light fills the foyer along with the shadow pattern created by the grill.

Key Requirements

  • Vastu-compliant four bedroom house
  • Three-level structure
  • Maximum daylight integration
  • Landscape views from all main areas
  • Open plan living spaces

Design Features

Natural Light Optimization

East and north light fills the foyer along with the shadow pattern created by the grill. The connecting spaces are beautifully lit during the day from all directions.

Open Plan Design

The ground level has an open kitchen and dining, prayer room, and formal and informal living spaces. The plan is open to create a sense of openness.

Transparent Staircase

A metal staircase with granite tread was designed to bring more transparency and light through a laser cut wall panel. Pattern on different layers is seen throughout the staircase area.

Cantilevered Façade

The cantilevered façade creates a sense of wonder and the pattern created by the north windows to the contrast grey plastered walls tries to invite the landscaping around the house.
